When I Turn the key back to off position everything stays lit up and beeping... I have to cycle the key back to on and then off again to get everything to shut down. Also, The beeping sequence is different than it used to be.... before, When I turn the key to on I Would count to the 10th beep and on the 10th beep it would double beep and that is when I would crank the engine. Now it just keeps beeping no double beep. | |||

RE: Random shut down if you simply turn the keyswitch to the on position in the dash (without cranking), then the gauges should sweep.. then all go to normal. if this is not happening then your problems are likely bigger than just an ecm issue. it could be the infamous prostar problem of the fuses in the fuse panel are getting tarnished and causing havok with everything ... info: http://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?t...1#pid12861 that, or you have power issues somewhere. The oil pressure gage or any other gage for that matter never before swept and then proceeded to peg out like the oil pressure gage is now doing since after whacking on the ECM I'm going to go ahead and replace all the fuses'cause I know you're a proponent of that be always being a big problem. Also never before with the dash and the beeper stay on even after turning the switch off and then having to cycle it back to on and back to off to get everything quiet..... RE: Random shut down OK so I replaced every fuse in the dash and nothing has changed oil pressure gauge keeps pegging out still when you turn the key on. no start, ect. Rawze, I know you have shown many. many people how to do this whackamole trick on the ECM case to verify that it is a bad one. Have You ever seen a situation like mine where after it was tapped on and shut off. the truck would never start up again until the E C M was replaced? Thank you. | |||

RE: Random shut down Got the (reman) ecm from International ($2,700+$189 for them to program) Truck started right up but there are some issues.... The abs light on dash has gone away (good, I hope?), The traction control light is still on along with the triangle light.... But now there is a new red light flashing continuously that says "engine brake" and my console switch for the "PdL" does not light up green when I activate it. Is this new ECM simply going to need some reprogramming? I'm waiting to hear back from international for what their verdict is going to be on this, but thought it would be good to first check with you guys here since you've helped me so much already. It sounds as if like they put the wrong vehicle template into it?, or they simply did not restore the vehicle side of things properly?. - One or the other. RE: Random shut down Yes, the truck runs fine and the cruise control works but that's about it. None of the switches on the center console work...PDL, engine brake, suspension dump, none of those are working. Come to find out. I've now been told by the dealer that the old ECM I brought to them was crashed so they were not able to put my vehicle specifics in.... I'm taking the truck into them the first of this next week. | |||

RE: Random shut down Btw, The dealership didn't tell me the situation about my old ECM being crashed and that they just were only able to put the Cummins program into when I picked up and paid for this thing. Only after I got it home and installed that I saw many things were not working and it took about a week before. I was finally able to talk to the actual person there that does the programming and he's the one that told me he couldn't completely flash it and told me to bring the truck to him. Rawze, is he going to be able to complete this or do you think I'm going to end up with some problems here with this dealership? Thank you! | |||
