[CANNONBALL]

got one eating my lunch somewhat. Had one come in that a truck builder out of Houston cobbed together. Owner says runs great but constant black smoke at idle and pours black smoke thru the gears from 0 to 100 mph.

Drove the truck. Runs like dog shi#t, has a really cool lope at an idle. Got a black haze an idle and rolls black smoke thru 0 to 38 pounds of boost in all gears. Bottom foot of the stacks are jet black.
Pulled the valve cover ran the rack, reset all the injector preload. Checked the timing all was correct. Started back up same stuff. Ran a cut out test and it'll run on all the cylinders 1 at a time like it should. Cut out the front 3 and the back 3 to try to see. No difference. Had a spare set of fueling/timing actuators. Swapped the back ones out smoke at an idle cleared right up and it idles like a singer sewing machine again. Went ahead with 4 new ones, owner requested.

replaced the exhaust back pressure sensor and map sensor with spares i had no change.

I'm out of ideas other that pulling the injectors. My theory is they may have installed a larger injector out of different CPL motor and it won't fly with this 485 hp?

Flashed a stock file back in it until we get the issues figured out.

Any ideas are welcome.
