What about oil change intervals on mandated engines ? I believe that 20 000km would be the absolute maximum oil change interval on trucks. Those engines have more soot load from EGR, higher exhaust and turbo temperatures, possibly more oil dilution due to dpf regens dumping extra fuel into engine. More wear and tear from cold start modes that prioritize heating up exhaust cans as fast as they can.

How the 40 000 km engine looks underneath the rocker cover? Is there any visible nasty tar or asphalt accumulating already? Or is it caramellized soot that does not come off the cams or anything. Also those super duper fancy expensive fully synthetics are thinner and have lower evaporation temperature, how that is going to help with reducing oil ending up in exhaust, especially if engine gets worn down?
