2009 cm871 fluid or moisture in intake manifold/venturi pipe Good Morning, During my winters when the truck is in the garage, I clean out all of my emissions equipment, intake piping, and clean or replace sensors to keep everything running smoothly during my busy season due to my high idle rates. Unfortunately, idling and low rpm, low load work goes with my business of off road/on road site dump trucking. This week when I tore into the EGR tune up project I noticed a fluid or moisture in the intake manifold pipe (See picture) with more carbon sticking then previous years. I took everything out including the egr valve, and the piping all the way to the cooler. I used the quickserve egr test of testing a sample of carbon from the rear of the cooler with the fleetguard test strips and did not see much conclusive evidence of a failure and also tested the system at 15psi overnight with the pipe off and a container under the flange to catch anything leaked out from the cooler but it was still dry the next day. It appears the cooler is okay but my question becomes in your experience what other fluids could likely be found here. (the carbon seemed to look drier closer to the cooler) I know that slobber from the cylinders are a real thing in such a idle heavy application but I don't know that it could make it up stream that far through the egr system but I could be wrong. Also maybe just condensation? we have a lot of ambient temp swings in this part of new england. The pipe coming from the CAC is completely dry and the intake pipe to the air compressor looks fairly dry as well. The only thing I can think of the cooler air from the CAC mixes with the hot air from the EGR system at this point and could cause condensation at this point? Thank you! 2009 International 5600i Cummins ISX 500V cm871 151,000mi/8500hrs | |||
