Update: I pulled wheels and drum .. put it in gear with engine running and axle moves up and down (no dial indicator but I braced a tire iron against the side) moves about a 1/4 inch. tried to wiggle hub with tire iron and no play? If the truck didn't spin it I would be thinking broken axle?
Tomorrow I will pull axle and maybe hub?
