RE: Always buy OE to prevent ghost issues... Same story with my green tractor engine CERTIFIED aftermarket parts. They boldly claim, to pay for labour and other parts damaged due to failed ring gear (that stripped tooth before even getting engine started). Well it seems that if you read the store's terms who sold the parts, there is no paying for labour involved in replacing defective part. The parts maker is not going to pay me either so saving 50 bucks costed more than 2000 taking into account - new starter, engine on off labour and new genuine ring gear... About those aftermarket turbos. I know a guy who tested then on his car, one out of ten worked, others failed shortly after installation. By failures I mean oil leaks to exhaust side of turbine, snapped shafts and so on. The problem in video was the actuator and inside the actuator box is circuit board + aluminium wires that connect to the plug. Inside the aluminium wires fail. I have repaired loads of throttle bodies and turbo actuators by just replacing aluminium with thin copper wire. Scary thing was that throttle bodies died on 2-3-4 year old cars already... I have yet to redo some of those I have fixed in the past. Sometimes worm gear inside turbo gets stripped too or plastic gear inside throttle body motor. Luckily the chinese have cheap replacement brass / metal gears that work just fine. The guy who works at a local parts store had head gaskets replaced on his v8 gasoline engined 5 liter benz. He was like okay let's change tappets too while there with a reputable aftermarket brand made one. After assembling the engine there was knocking sound. Six out of 32 tappets were faulty. Brand new reputable aftermarket part brand, was not the cheapest no name, but still... | |||
