On a semi unrelated note, Cummins has changed the torque on the scissor and idler gears bolts. It has been significantly reduced. Any engine that has not had those bolts replaced and torqued to new spec since the change around a year ago, I would highly recommend you add that into your rebuild

All OEM everything, here is a picture…

No, all the old ones were the same length.. im tempted to reuse them instead of these..

Can anyone confirm this before i start putting these in?

It should not matter, as long as they are both OEM. Looks like they will do the same exact job to me.

They all sat right toward the opening in the piston, i believe the main thing is that they point in the right direction rather than the length. I just got the head on nice, waiting to re-torque to 300lbs tomorrow, then 90 degrees and verify the 475ftlbs. Only thing I overlooked was the initial 150ftlbs, will everything be ok? I totally understood the post as torque to 300ftlbs initially. Im hoping it doesn’t make a difference since im still waiting the 24hrs to retorque. Let me know if I should correct something… thanks

The initial 150-ft.lbs step is to ensure its down evenly before locking it down fully. Pray that it did not shift or distort is all I can say. - Did you at least follow the tightening pattern, working from center outwards, from the manual?.

Yes, i followed the pattern exactly, i marked the bolts to make sure i followed it correctly. Its just that initial 150ft lbs that I didnt do, totally my bad as I assumed the 300 was the starting point. Im hoping its ok as it took me sometime to tighten them down so assuming the torque spread evenly and slowly. At this point I could redo it easily with a new gasket if it was detrimental…

I would say to not 'undo everything' at this point.
