RE: CM871 turbo premature bearing failure - marek4792 - 03-15-2026 Is it me or does that look like the silencer ring came out? Yea could be something going on there. RE: CM871 turbo premature bearing failure - Mrkentee - 03-15-2026 (03-15-2026 )marek4792 Wrote: Is it me or does that look like the silencer ring came out? I think you mean the little shiny ring. It’s all intact. Just the damage on the blades and the housing. After 1.05mil, it's also sticking....which is really a-shame, because the damn thing looks and feels fantastic (outside of the initial 30% of the arm sweep). (03-15-2026 )Mrkentee Wrote: replaced with reman from turbo place in Ga. Also, just ordered one from the same place, so hopefully that's not the service it gives me. I've read some great reviews/recommendations of that place from this forum. The Chicago company is well thought of by a well known shop. Part of the reason I used them. I even used this company as well. I know who recommended their services and also how impressed they were with the facility at said company. With that being said, the part I purchased arrived quick, packaged well and looked to be a quality reconditioned component. However, I only got a couple months out of it before near total failure. The company did expedite another part, so they're customer service appears to be great, but I think their recon turbos and components are hit and miss unfortunately. With that amount of cost on turbos, I'd certainly be checking and double checking all other factors. What would you say the total mileage on the last 2 turbos added up to? Considering your first two were nearly 1.2m, it would be interesting to see the comparison with the last ones. Probably 325k from the last two over 3 1/2 years. We’re doing the same thing in the opposite order. I hope this one doesn’t become a major headache. Good luck with that one. Yea, thats def a huge mileage difference from the first 2 turbos. I'd investigate further through the steps to see if there's something missed. I haven't read any horror stories on the GA place (at least on this forum) that I can recall, which is why I used them for the replacement on my cm2350. As for the Chicago-area place, I used them for just an actuator on my X15 since Cummins wanted twice as much. Figured it was worth the gamble since I do my own work. 480k ish on the Cummins actuator vs roughly 30k on theirs gives you an idea of how that worked out. Keep us updated... def like to know whats going on there. RE: CM871 turbo premature bearing failure - Rawze - Today My YTS turbo from GA still going strong. Like most people have said ... seems to be decent for a non-OE reman. Mine also leaked when I first got it (my trucks fault). Here is that story... info: https://rawze.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=6710&pid=59349#pid59349 |
